Bringing Sustainable Fashion to Perth on a Global Level
Perth based Australian Eco fashion designer/visual artist Zuhal Kuvan-Mills of Green Embassy has taken her passion for slow fashion to a new level with the creation of the very first International Perth Eco Fashion Week.
The eco-focused event will make its exciting debut this November. Kuvan-Mills is the founder, visual artist and creator behind handmade Organic Haute Couture label Green Embassy and organic textile maison Atelier Zuhal. Now, she is setting her sights on promoting and showcasing sustainable artists and designers on a global level.
Perth Eco Fashion week will collaborate with the designers, artists, community, media, businesses and educational programs, as well as the local Governments, to raise awareness for environmentally conscious fashion. With Eco Fashion Weeks spreading across the globe, it is only natural for Kuvan-Mills to take the wheel in her own beloved home, none other than Perth, Australia. Baffled by the fact that Perth had not solidified its own spot in the Eco Fashion Week industry. The initiative she has taken to implement Perth’s very own Eco Fashion celebration will strike a chord with designers, fashion lovers and media alike.
This innovative, forward-thinking event will feature, exclusive informative discussions, exhibitions, hands-on workshops and incredible runway shows featuring the best in organic, hand made, local, re/up cycled fair-trade, ethical fashion and textiles.
The festivities will run 19th Nov-26th Nov 2016, first time in Perth’s majestic Swan Valley, spanning a full week of stunning sustainable fashion.
The goal is to ignite and inspire attendees to change their perspective on fashion and take a good look at who makes their clothing, and how it is manufactured.
Rallying against the notion that Eco fashion is all hemp and granola, PEFW will present only the most creative, artistic and beautifulsustainable fashion. This is crucial, considering that the fashion industry is one of the largest polluters worldwide, not to mention one of the least ethical. PEFW and Kuvan-Mills seek to prove that Eco fashion can be just as stylish as its fast fashion counterpart, while remaining socially and environmentally responsible.
Sustainable is the new black, and with Western Australia’s very first Eco designer runway, PEFW will address this wholeheartedly. In collaboration with Universities, TAFE and schools for a student designer shows and offering student awards, PEFW will be a unique balance of dazzling fashion and essential education.
International Perth Eco Fashion Week will be a must-see event, exploding onto the scene in its vibrant, spectacular debut.
